Next Meeting Information:

The HSW Women’s Club will meet again on Tuesday, May 09th at 9:30 a.m. Meeting location is La Hacienda Recreation Center, Ricardo Montalban room.  We hope to see you there!

President's WELCOME:

Happy May to all!  We have had such a productive year so far and are excited about what the rest of the year will bring for us.

Our Social Committee Chairs have been so dedicated to trying to make our events as much fun as they can be.  Make sure to check the Calendar to see what is coming up next and make sure you sign up for a slot on any of those activities that have limited space availability.  As always, we are looking for volunteers to help out with our activities, so if you see something you want to help with, please get with our Social Committee Chair, Maria Guerrera, or the listed Event Chair so they can get you signed up.

We are still trying our best to come up with some fresh ideas for activities for the year, so if you have any suggestions, please send them to us via web page, email, text, phone call, or in person.

Please remember that we need to get your dues in for the current 2023 membership year.  You can get your $10 to Barb Hatch or a Board Member to keep your membership in good standing.

Leadership Focus:

Last meeting, we invited two speakers to present to the membership after the meeting as part of our Compassion Initiative this year.  Steven Metzger with Baldwin Brothers and Sarah Rummel from the law office of Dean and Dean LLP spoke to those present about advance planning for end-of-life events and Estate Planning.

There was active participation from the group and a lot of valuable information was shared.  If you were not able to attend, and want one of the informational packets that they left with us, just let Maria Guerrera know.

Our Compassion Initiative is still being developed but is already underway here in the neighborhood.  Areas of focus so far are:

  • Transportation Assistance
  • Contractor Neighborhood Referrals
  • Technology Assistance
  • Fix It Helpers
  • Meals Assistance (Illness/Bereavement)

If you need any assistance in the areas noted above, please reach out to a board member and we will work to help with coordination.  Additionally, if you can help in any of these areas, please get in touch with us and we will add you to our list.

One aspect of this effort that we are focusing on in the next month or so will be our “Trusted” Contractor list.  We are developing a list of neighbor vetted contractors to help our community get the most honest, dependable, timely, and reasonably priced support for the work they need performed.   If you have any local contractor that you have used in the past, and were really happy with the results, please share their info with us.

July:

First Responders Rec Center Game Night and Pot Luck

  • Sunday, July 16th, 5:30 to 8:30 pm; Cost $5 p/person and a covered dish.  Since this is the heat of the summer, we have an indoor activity to beat the heat.  First Responders Rec Center has a variety of indoor activities (darts, billiards, table shuffleboard, table tennis, video games, game/card tables) that we will reserve for only our club during this time period.  We are working out some form of competitive play on a few of the games, but this is really an opportunity for us to get together and enjoy each other’s company.  A pot luck meal (BYOB) will precede the game period, so join us for an evening of food and fun.
