Next Meeting Information

The HSW Women’s Club summer break will end shortly and the club is making preparations to return to our monthly meeting format.  We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our next meeting, Tuesday, September 12th at 9:30 am, at La Hacienda Rec Center (Ricardo Montalban Room).  It is a Welcome Back Luncheon/Brunch and everyone attending is asked to bring a dish to share with the group.

President's WELCOME

I think this summer has been one  of the hottest I can remember in the 35 years we have lived in Florida, but we still found a few ways to get together, even with the heat.  Our event at the First Responders Rec Center on July 16th was a great success, with around 30 people attending and enjoying the food and fun game activities.  It was such a good time that we may try to do it again in the very near future!

We are entering a very busy period for Ladies Club activities, so please make sure to check the Events on the webpage and save the dates on your calendar to make sure you don’t miss anything!

We have also had quite a few changes in the neighborhood with residents in the last few months, so if you have a new neighbor next door, reach out to them and ask them to come with you to our next meeting.  The more the merrier!!

I have also heard some feedback that some of the membership would like to have a few more “ladies only” types of events like shopping trips or luncheons. If you would like to coordinate or have any suggestions for these types of events, please reach out to me or any board member with any ideas you may have.

 Leadership Focus
The By-Laws Committee has reviewed  the bylaws and will bring some updates before the membership for consideration and a vote later this year.  I want to thank Joanne Hegarty, Val Chirichella, and Linda Scamardi for working on this over the summer.  We will meet with them soon so they can finalize their presentation to the membership.  As anyone that has been a part of this process knows, this is quite an undertaking, and we truly appreciate the time and effort that these ladies have given our club.

COMMITTEES

Social Committee Past Events

First Responders Rec Center Game Night and PotLuck
Thank you to Helen Miles and Maria Guerrera for putting this event together for the Club.  It was a wonderful time for all of those that attended.   The game room had to be rented, so there was a charge of $5 per person to attend this event.  Thankfully, there was a good turnout and this became a small fundraiser for the club where we made $149.19 profit for the club!   Every little bit helps!

Welcome Back PotLuck Dinner
Thank you to Becky Montgomery and Maria Guerrera for putting this event together for the Club.  We were are at full capacity and all had a wonderful time.

Committee Upcoming Events:

As always, we are looking for Volunteers to help out with these events, and perhaps even Chair one.  If you are interested, please reach out to a Board member.

2024

In early 2024 we want to organize a large-scale Bingo Night that will be  open to ANY/ALL Villages Residents (open outside of the club and neighborhood).  This is a very large undertaking, and we have a couple of ladies that are already doing the needed research for organizing this event. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or ideas or if you would like to help out.  More info to follow…..

Membership
Please reach out to any new neighbors and offer to bring them to our next meeting.  It is a very good way to “break the ice” and welcome them into the neighborhood.   Any members (new or old) who wish to enjoy the fellowship of our club, please DO come to our next meeting and join us.

Fundraising
Kelly Miller and Linda Scarmardi have spent a lot of time and energy researching different ideas.  Please let them know about any successes that you have experienced in the past that may work for us.

It has also been suggested that some members might just want to make a single donation to the club.  (Thank you to the 2 unidentified members that did that last meeting!)  If you are interested in doing that, please contact our Treasurer, Kay Mead, or any board member.
