Next Meeting Information
We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our next meeting, Tuesday, October 10th at 9:30 am, at La Hacienda Rec Center (Ricardo Montalban Room). We have a lot of new ladies in our neighborhood, so reach out to your neighbors and offer to bring them with you to join and participate in our fellowship group!
President's WELCOME
I apologize for being so preoccupied with life lately. I want to thank Maria for taking the wheel at our last meeting for me while I helped my daughter and son-in-law with a home emergency in Orlando. Maria, you are the BEST!! For the Club, we are entering one of the most active quarters of the year for us and I am so blessed to have ladies that have taken point on getting things done and keeping our events organized!
Make sure to check the web page and transfer the event dates to your calendar so you don’t miss those opportunities to both attend and help out with the fun. I will honestly tell you that we do need more volunteers to help with the organization of our events. As is typical, we have a “core” group of ladies always stepping up to volunteer and lead the way, but I can tell you we are all getting a little tired, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Leadership Focus:
As required, the By-Laws update will be the focus of our next meeting. Joanne Hegarty, Val Chirichella, and Linda Scamardi have worked a lot over the summer on this review for us and will present their recommendations to the Membership. Thank you so much Ladies for your continued dedication to our Club. Once presented to the membership, you will be able to go home and review the proposed changes and we will discuss and vote for acceptance on the revision at our November meeting.
Additionally, the Nominating Committee will present for your consideration their list of candidates at the next meeting for our slate of officers next year (the vote will take place in November). This is also the time that they will ask for any nominations from the floor for anyone interested in filling a position. Make sure to speak up if you want to or know of anyone you want to recommend for President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Following our next meeting at 10:30 AM, we will have the President of our Hacienda SW AED Club and Board members of the Soledad AED Program give a presentation on OUR AED support team and the recent changes that have taken place on how this support is organized. It is quit*e different than in the past, and it is good to know and understand how this vital support is provided to our neighborhood. We have opened this follow up presentation to ALL the neighbors in South and West and hope to have a large turn out.
COMMITTEES
Social Committee Past Events
HSWWC Meeting and Potluck Luncheon
Thank you to Becky Montgomery for organizing this event. I understand that a good time was had by all and there was lots of food to sample and that all went home with bellies full.
Scavenger Hunt
Thank you so much to Evelyn Krawczyk , Kay Mead, and Jamie Clarke for the organization of this event. The ladies worked hard on all the questions to solve and those that participated had a great time. Even our weather decided to cooperate and make the event a success. We congratulate Patti & Wayne Beal, Taryn & Wally, and Jonathan and Gene Miller for finishing 1st to 3rd in this fun event. We even had to go to the tie breaker of quickest finish time to determine 1st and 2nd places!
Buffalo Grill High School Luncheon
Barb Hatch and Barb DiLaura did an excellent job organizing this event for us, THANK YOU! Those high school kids have a great future in front of them based on the experience we had at this event. The new venue and atmosphere was truly excellent…and the service and food was darn good too! The turn out from the club was awesome to support these students learning culinary skills and service support. From what I observed, it was a wonderful ladies day out for all! See our website for pictures.
Committee Upcoming Events:
As always, we are looking for Volunteers to help out with these events, and perhaps even Chair one. If you are interested, please reach out to a Board member.
2023
Club members meet every Friday year round for a fun morning of golf and breakfast. This is a noncompetitive group of ladies coming together for fellowship, breakfast, and yes, GOLF! If interested please contact Barb DiLaura, by phone or text, at 954-263-8080. Evelyn Krawczyk is in charge for October.
