Hacienda South-West Women’s Club Newsletter
January 2024
website: hswwclub.com
This newsletter is being circulated to both member and non-member ladies living in our neighborhood. Please share this newsletter with any who are new or do not use a computer.
Next Meeting Information
Our next meeting is Tuesday, January 9th at 9:30 am, at La Hacienda Rec Center (Ricardo Montalban Room). Make sure to reach out to any new Ladies in our neighborhood and bring them along with you! At this next meeting the voted/approved 2024 Board Members will be installed, there will be a club provided lunch, AND this year we will play a game or two to keep the meeting light and enjoyable!
President's WELCOME
Wow! December was a very busy month in our household (and yours too), and getting out a newsletter just slipped through the cracks! Hopefully going forward, it will be better. The Board truly hopes that your Holiday Season was filled with joy, love, and friends & family fellowship! On to an even better 2024!
This newsletter will be short and sweet as we do not yet have activities on our calendar to discuss and advise about. The only thing out there, as of now, is a Charity BINGO event in February. Any funds raised will be placed into the CHARITY line item on our budget and used to offset those quarterly costs for the year. More info will come out about that shortly.
On another Charity front, I want to thank Robyn Giles for leading our recent Thanksgiving Charity BOGO. It was a great success again this year and we have pictures on the web page showing our donation efforts.
The very most important thing coming up is the establishment of the 2024 SOCIAL COMMITTEE and the membership is highly encouraged to attend to help us identify and select times for the club’s calendar this year. This is a vital core aspect of our club, and trying to keep things fresh and new to participate in is crucial. With that said, we invite all members (established and new) to join us and bring ideas to the table for this year. The Board Chair for this committee has been Maria Guerra, but this year she will step away from that oversight. With that said, I have scheduled an initial meeting to gather and brainstorm at my home (1019 Soledad Way) on Weds, Jan 15 at 1:00 pm. Come with your ideas to share with the group. We need to jump on this quickly and get our calendar published to the membership, so we truly hope you will do your best to attend, join, and share ideas with us.
Leadership Focus:
At the last meeting, the update to the Club By-Laws was approved by membership. Please take a minute to visit our website and review them for any changes. Please remember that By-Laws and Committee Guidelines are two separate items. Club Membership controls the By-Laws and the Board oversees the Committee Guidelines.
COMMITTEES
Committee Past Events:
A sincere THANK YOU to all who made the Tree Lighting (Pam Blount), Holiday Luncheon (Maria Guerrera) and Holiday Dinner/Dance, a great success for all! It is with the support from these ladies AND all of you that helped out at the events that made them successful and fun!
Committee Upcoming Events:
As always, we are looking for Volunteers to help out with these events, and perhaps even Chair or Co-Chair one with a friend. If you are interested, please reach out to a Board member.
FEBRUARY
CHARITY Bingo event: February 4th, 5 pm to 9 pm, Saddlebrook Rec Center, Fox Grove Room. This event will be used to raise funds dedicated to our Charity efforts for this year. More details to come.
LADIES GOLF:
Club members meet every Friday year round for a fun morning of golf and breakfast. This is a noncompetitive group of ladies (both experienced and beginners) coming together for fellowship, breakfast, and yes, GOLF! If interested please contact Barb DiLaura, by phone or text, at 954-263-8080. Kelly Miller (828-557-8805, kellymiller72@gmail.com) is our scheduling concierge for January, so reach out to her if you want to play. NEW to this event is what the ladies are calling the BREAKFAST CLUB. If you don’t or can’t play golf, you can still join the crew after their game for breakfast. Just let the scheduler for the month know, and they will advise on where the group is meeting for breakfast so you can join in!
Membership:
The dues for our 2024 season are due now. Please pay as soon as possible so we can have a current and updated list to work from. Also, we have a lot of new faces in our neighborhood. Please reach out to any new neighbors and offer to bring them to our next meeting. It is a very good way to welcome them into the neighborhood and increase our membership!
Fundraising:
The club is in a good financial position to start off this year, so right now, the only fundraising will be to fund the Charity line item on our budget.
Directory & Website:
Please notify Evelyn Krawczyk (414-640-2548, evkraw@gmail.com) or Maria Guerrera (703-623-1379, mguerrera93@gmail.com) about any directory changes (email address, phone number, etc). We can also update your photo any time you wish - just let us know. The web page is a great reference to put a face with a name.
Prayer Chain:
Terry Lastowka is available (352-255-1155, tlastowka1069@gmail.com) when you find that prayers are needed for you, your family, or friends.
