Hacienda South West Women’s Club
OCTOBER 08, 2024
The meeting was called to order by President Maria Guerrera at 9:42 AM.
Maria asked if any new members were present . None were present to introduce.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Maria Guerrera.
Virginia Hardy led the prayer.
OFFICER REPORTS
President:
President Maria Guerrera addressed the membership.
She advised that we have the High School Luncheon (which has limited spaces available), the Annual BBQ, and the Holiday Luncheon lined up over the next couple of months, and to make sure to sign up at the back table.
She also reminded that if you need name tags, Barb DiLaura has a sign up sheet at the front desk.

Secretary:
Secretary Sandy Schupp reminded members that the minutes are available online and copies are on each table. She asked if there are any changes, additions or deletions to the September minutes.
Upon motion to approve by Becky Montgomery, and seconded by Evelyn Krawczyk, the minutes of the September 10th, 2024 meeting were unanimously approved, as presented, by the members present.
Treasurer:
Kay Mead presented the Treasurer Report for the period October 2024, with a starting balance of $7,007.28, and after deposits and expenses, the account balance is $6,140.13.
There being no recommended changes from the floor, and upon motion to approve by Lori Camp, and seconded by Robyn Giles, the financial report was unanimously approved by the members present.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Upcoming Events:
OCTOBER
Shopping trip to Millennia Mall, October 15th, 2024: Was canceled because not enough members signed up.
Buffalo Grill Lunch at the Villages High School, October 31st, 2024: The Chair is Barb Hatch. Sign ups are good so far, but there are still spaces available. We are close to the minimum 25 attendees and space is limited to 36 and so make sure to sign up quickly so you don’t miss out. The cost for this club event is $22 p/person, which includes the tax and tip.
Annual BBQ, November 10th, 2024: The Chair is Maria Guerrera. The event this year will be held at Laurel Manor. This cost is $22 per person and is open to the Neighborhood, so ask people around the neighborhood. We will have a White Elephant drawing with tickets remaining from the 50/50 drawing, so get ready for a good time.
Tree Lighting, December 8th, 2024: The Board is the Chair. This is a Neighborhood event and has been moved to Presa Place this year. It will start at 5:00 pm and be a traditional Pot Luck with BYOB and the Board has hired a live band to perform at this event and is in place of the December Dinner Dance by the Club to cut down on event stress in the month. Paper goods are provided by the club.
Annual Ladies Luncheon, December 10th, 2024: The Chair is Barb DiLaura. The luncheon will be held at the Glenview Country Club, and will cost $23 per member. The actual cost is $33 plus, but the club is chipping in $10 to offset the cost. More info to come later.
Holiday Party, January 2025 Date TBD: The Board will source a location to hold an alternative Holiday Party for the new Board that will take place after the New Year. This is being done based on past feedback from membership that December has too many events. More info to follow.
Nominating Committee
The nominating committee consisting of Joanne Hegarty (Chair), Linda Scamardi, and Joanne Phinney sourced candidates for the HSWWC 2025 Board Members. The following committee selections were presented to the Club for consideration:
President: Barb DiLaura
Vice President: Barb Hatch
Secretary: Lori Camp
Treasurer: Becky Montomery
Colette Whelan made a motion and Robyn Giles seconded it to accept the proposed slate of officers. The members voted, by unanimous consent, to accept the slate as presented. A vote to elect the slate will take place next month, pending any recommendations from the floor on the day of the election.
Membership (Barb Hatch)
Barb Hatch announced that we currently have a membership of 77 ladies and that there were 21 members present today. Collection for 2025 dues will start in October.
Charity (Robyn Giles)
Robyn advised that the annual Thanksgiving BOGO Charity Food Drive is in progress and that donations can be brought to her house, she will have a donation box on her porch. She also advised that all donated items must be in their original, unopened packaging to be accepted. She also advised that for those that can’t shop, or who don’t have time available, a cash donation can be made and the committee will do the shopping for you!

Golf (Barb DiLaura)
The Friday group is looking for volunteer concierges for scheduling of the courses/teams. She thanked those below for volunteering so far:

Prayer Chain (Terry Lastowska)
Maria advised that Terry has stepped down as the Prayer Chain Coordinator and that Joanne Phinney has graciously volunteered to coordinate.

NEW BUSINESS
Maria advised that the Board was recommending that there be a By-Laws proposed change to remove Ladies Golf as a committee of the Women’s Club.
Maria led the membership in singing Happy Birthday to:

50/50 Drawing – $47 was collected with $24 to the club and $23 to Kay Mead.

There being no further business to come before the membership, it was moved by Nina Scerbo and seconded by Collette Whelan. The meeting adjourned at 10:24 am.
