Next Meeting Information
The HSW Women’s Club will meet again on Tuesday, June 13th at 9:30 a.m. The meeting location is La Hacienda Recreation Center, Ricardo Montalban room. We have received some feedback that our meetings are not “fun” enough, so make sure to attend this next one. In lieu of a speaker, following our regular agenda this month, Linda Scamardi and Kelly Miller will be running a CARD BINGO game for us, with prizes! If anyone has a household item that they would like to donate to add to the prize bucket, we are gathering “white elephant” or “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” goodies to give out as prizes for our upcoming ladies meeting games as well as our fall regular Bingo fundraiser. We hope to see you there!
President's WELCOME
Welcome to SUMMER !! We know that many of our members have “flown back” to their summer homes, but we still have meetings and events going on for those of us that remain here in the Villages. With that said, we hope that we can have anyone still in the area at our next meeting on June 13th.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to spice up our meetings OR on a new Social Event that we can try to pull together, PLEASE reach out to us. We are trying to not do things that have been done the last few years, so any fresh ideas are truly appreciated. We have a lot of NEW members that have recently moved into the area, so if you have any ideas that have proved successful where you moved from, please let us know. All can send them to us via web page, email, text, phone call, or in person.
Leadership Focus:
Due to various concerns expressed by club members, I am going to table the Compassion Initiative at this time. I still think this is a valid support that needs to be organized and done in our neighborhood, but will work on another avenue to make this happen. Thank you to all that have helped and expressed support of this initiative over the last few months. If you are in need of help, you can reach out to me personally and I will see if some assistance can be coordinated for you.
COMMITTEES
Social Committee Past Events
Edible Arrangements
Several of the ladies went for this fruit arranging class and had a great time (pictures are on the web site). So much so that Maria is looking to schedule another one again later this year so more have a chance to attend. Thanks Maria!
Committee Upcoming Events:
Golf:
Club members meet every Friday year round for a fun morning of golf and breakfast. This is a noncompetitive group of ladies coming together for fellowship, breakfast, and yes, GOLF! If interested please contact Barb DiLaura, by phone or text, at 954-263-8080.
June:
No Event
We are sad to say that the Grand Oaks dinner theater is a NO GO because they would not set aside tickets for us, so there’s no guarantee they would have availability for us. It is a little short on planning time, so we will skip an activity for June.
July:
First Responders Rec Center Game Night and PotLuck
Sunday, July 16th, 5:30 to 8:00 pm; Cost $5 p/person and a covered dish. Since this is the heat of the summer, we have an indoor activity to beat the heat. First Responders Rec Center has a variety of indoor activities (darts, billiards, table shuffleboard, table tennis, video games, game/card tables) that we will reserve for only our club during this time period. We are working out some form of competitive play on a few of the games, but this is really an opportunity for us to get together and enjoy each other’s company. A pot luck meal (BYOB) will precede the game period, so join us for an evening of food and fun. Please sign up at the June meeting or HERE.
August
Welcome Back PotLuck Dinner
Sunday, August 27th, Chula Vista Rec Center. Hours: 5 - 6 pm Social Hour, Dinner at 6 pm. Please sign up HERE and let us know if you are bringing a Main Dish, Vegetable/Salad, Rice/Pasta, or Desert. (We are trying to make sure we don’t have too much of one item and not enough of the others). We hope to see you there!
JAN 2024
CANCELED - Royal Caribbean Cruise Fundraiser
I am also sad to inform the membership that we have canceled the January 2024 Fundraising Cruise on Symphony of the Seas due to lack of participation. There are a lot of valid reasons why people could not join us, but we do not have enough participation to make this profitable for us. Those of you that have already signed up, you will need to give the agent a call to get your refund. Maybe we can try again next year.
As always, we are looking for Volunteers to help out with these events above and to even Chair one. If you are interested, please reach out to a Board member.=
Membership:
We still have a few outstanding membership payments. We hope to get those in soon. If you have any new neighbors that have moved in, please reach out to them and offer to bring them to our next meeting. It is a very good way to “break the ice” and get them involved. Any new members wishing to join in on the fellowship of our club, please come to our next meeting and join. Barb Hatch will be sitting at the entry door to get you signed up
Directory & Website:
Please notify Evelyn Krawczyk (414) 640-2548 / evkraw@gmail.com or Maria Guerrera (703) 623-1379 / mguerrera93@gmail.com if you have any changes in your email address or telephone number. Additionally, the directory needs pictures for a lot of our members. You can either send a picture of your choice by email, or get Evelyn, Maria, or a member of the Board to snap a pic of you so we can update the file. Also, if you want a new updated picture, we can do that for you too

Terry Lastowka is available at (352) 255-1155 or tlastowka1069@gmail.comwhen you find that prayers are needed for you, your family, or friends

Name Tags:
With so many new members, we are asking everyone to wear their name tags to our meetings. If you don’t have or have misplaced your name tag, please get with Maria Guerrera (703) 623-1379 and she will get one ordered for you. The NEW price is $7.49 per tag. We will also have paper name tags available for those that need one.
Again, please reach out to me or the Board if you have any questions or feedback (good or bad) about what is going on with the club. It is only with your feedback that we can make our club a great place to meet and gather.
At your service!!
