Sumter County adds Smart 911 service.
Wildwood, FL -
Sumter County announces today that their communications center has completed the integration of Smart 911 services for Sumter County.
Smart 911 is a service without additional cost that allows citizens to create a safety profile that includes any information they want first responders to have when responding to their call. In the event there is a need to dial 9-1-1, the caller’s Smart 911 profile will appear on the call taker computer screen.
The PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) remains the first point of access to emergency services and each advancement in technology has improved our ability to respond to the community.
With the addition of Smart 911 in Sumter County today, we reflect on the 50 years of 9-1-1. On February 16, 1968, Alabama Speaker of the House, Mr. Rankin Fite, made the first 9-1-1 call from the Haleyville City Hall.
For additional information and to create a safety profile, see www.smart911.comfor additional information.
It is with sadness that I report the loss of another neighbor, Bob Kirchberger (Vonda’s husband). Bob passed away last Sunday following a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 26th at 3 p.m. at Beyers Funeral Home.
